Position Announcement for Director of KU-IIGE
Colleagues,
Last month we announced the creation of the KU Institute for International & Global Engagement (KU-IIGE), which will help align efforts and capacities across the university in order to bolster our international and global engagement strategy. An Executive Director will lead the KU-IIGE as it works alongside and in collaboration with KU’s five Area Studies Centers. In addition to the half-time appointment leading the KU-IIGE, the Executive Director will retain her or his tenured faculty position at KU.
The Executive Director position is now open and posted on the Work at KU website. Additional search information is posted on the Provost website. We encourage applications from tenured KU faculty who have the interest and background to help launch and lead this new international endeavor. Additionally, we encourage all faculty and staff to share the job posting with internal colleagues who may be good candidates for the position.
In addition to providing leadership to the institute’s staff and overseeing the daily operations and budget of the institute, the Executive Director will set, direct and implement the vision, mission and goals of the KU-IIGE by fostering cooperative activity and engagement within the KU community. The Executive Director also will facilitate the development of curricula, sponsored research and community engagement activities related to international and global engagement broadly, and the theme of “what it means to be human in a digital age” more specifically.
The Executive Director will report to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. The initial appointment will be for a four-year period, and may be renewed based upon mutual agreement, performance and the satisfactory conclusion of a three-year comprehensive review.
KU believes that a variety of values, interests, experiences, and intellectual and cultural viewpoints enrich learning and our workplace. The Institute for International & Global Engagement actively seeks applications from members of groups underrepresented in higher education.
Please visit the Work at KU website to review the full position posting, including required and preferred qualifications. Application deadline is April 18 with a negotiated start date on or around June 1, 2022.
Respectfully,
Jennifer Roberts
Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies
Charles Bankart
Associate Vice Provost for International Affairs
