Parking Lot and Street Closures Scheduled over the Summer

This summer the University of Kansas will take advantage of a quieter campus to complete necessary construction and maintenance projects. This work will require several streets, sidewalks and parking lots to close or partially close for a portion of the summer.
Please visit the Construction Closures page for the most up-to-date information on construction projects that may impact where to park, how to access parking lots and travel routes to and from campus.
Road, parking lot and sidewalk projects scheduled this summer include the following:
Road Work:
- Eleventh Street, north of David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, has reopened to all city traffic. This street section had only been opened to buses and construction vehicles as part of the Gateway District project.
- Irving Hill Road from Engel Road to the east side of the Lied Center parking lot will be closed from May 19 to June 1 to fix potholes on the roads leading up to the bridge.
- Spencer Drive and Lot 91 will be closed from May 26 to June 1 for work on a utility crossing. During this time, nearby lots 92 and 94 will remain open and only accessible from the north on 11th Street. After the work is completed, the entrance to lots 92 and 94 will return to being through Spencer Drive and Lot 91 and the exit will be from 11th Street.
Parking Lots
- Lot 113, which sits south of 18th Street between Ousdahl Road and Naismith Drive, and Lot 222, the southwest parking area next to Youngberg Hall, will be closed throughout the summer for reconstruction.
- Lots 90, 71 and 16 as well as the Central District and Mississippi Street parking garages and Allen Fieldhouse Parking Facility will be repaired throughout the summer. The lots will generally remain open, but stalls in proximity to repairs will be reserved for the work.
Sidewalks and Stairs
- Throughout the summer, improvements will be made to sidewalks, lighting and landscaping between Sunnyside Avenue and Anschutz Library. The accessible Hawk Route will be maintained throughout the project except for a two-week period from May 19 to June 2. Included in the work will be the continuation of water line replacement for Haworth Hall, which could impact multiple buildings in the area for a one-day outage and could limit parking in the area.
- The east and west stairwells of Wescoe Hall will be partially closed for reconstruction throughout the summer.
