Annual Faculty and Staff Training Now Open
Sent on behalf of Associate Vice Chancellor for Integrity & Compliance Natalie Holick, Associate Vice Chancellor for Civil Rights & Title IX Lauren Jones McKown, and Chief Information Security Officer Jeremy Pennington
Dear Colleague,
You play an essential role in creating a healthy and vibrant campus community. The annual required compliance training modules, now available in MyTalent, provide an opportunity to build on the knowledge, skills and experience you use daily to support students and colleagues and address complex situations.
The following required training modules have been assigned for all KU employees and should be completed by Oct. 26:
- The 20-minute Data Privacy Principles module will strengthen your knowledge of data privacy rules, principles and resources, enhancing our collective effort to safeguard personal data.
- The 30-minute Emergency Management module will help foster a culture of preparedness across campus by highlighting Emergency Management’s procedures and resources.
- The 45-minute Information Security and Appropriate Use: One KU module will provide practical guidance and best practices to strengthen online safety and protect information and campus systems.
- The 30-minute Office of Civil Rights & Title IX Training module will empower mandatory reporters, which includes most KU employees, to better navigate the reporting process and access available resources for harassment and discrimination prevention. Please note that the material in this module could cause elevated emotions. If you think you might have difficulty completing the learning module, please contact the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX at civilrights@ku.edu or 785-864-6414.
Additional Training Modules
- The 20-minute Campus Security Authority module, assigned to designated campus security authorities, will build awareness of Clery Act practices and requirements and campus safety.
- The optional, 20-minute Fostering Respect and Belonging module provides an opportunity to deepen self-awareness, strengthen intercultural competency and develop tools for recognizing and addressing bias and discrimination.
How to Complete Each Training Module
You can complete the training modules all at once or at different times. The modules are largely self-paced.
- You have three ways to navigate to the trainings:
- Click on the links for each module listed above.
- Log in to MyTalent and click on “Annual KUL Training” under the Learning section.
- Go to the Learning page in MyTalent and find the assigned modules under “Required Learning.”
- For the training to be marked as completed, you need to finish the entire module. Logging in or partially completing the module will not register the training as completed.
- When you have completed each module, follow the exit instructions to ensure the training is recorded as completed. Do not close your browser window until you do so.
- If you have technical issues, please reach out to Human Resources at hrdept@ku.edu.
Beginning Sept. 29, you will receive weekly reminders until you have completed the required training modules. All training assigned to you must be completed by Oct. 26, as outlined in the Required Training Policy.
Thank you for taking the time to engage in these learning opportunities and for the expertise, care and commitment you bring to KU. Your contributions foster a safer and more welcoming campus community for all Jayhawks to thrive.
Respectfully,
Natalie, Lauren and Jeremy
