Additional Resources for Navigating Kansas DEI/CRT Legislation Now Available
Dear Colleagues,
On July 28, I shared information regarding House Bill 2513 and the Kansas Board of Regents' adoption of definitions related to DEI-CRT content and promised additional guidance and resources for instructors. That information is now available on the Academic Affairs website.
The guidance summarizes the legislation and KBOR definitions, highlights key considerations for course design and instruction, and provides optional syllabus and classroom language that instructors may find helpful. It is intended to support faculty in understanding the definition framework while continuing to engage students in rigorous scholarly inquiry, critical analysis and evidence-based discussion.
The Academic Affairs team and I encourage you – instructors, department chairs, and academic leaders – to review the resources as you work with students this academic year. We will continue to update the page as additional guidance or resources become available.
Thank you for your continued commitment to academic excellence and student learning. The work you do matters to our students and the communities we serve.
Sincerely,
Arash Mafi, Ph.D.
Chief Academic Officer, Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor
