Gina Wyant to Serve as Assistant Vice Provost for Program Life Cycle
Dear Colleague,
I am excited to announce that Gina Wyant has been named assistant vice provost for program life cycle in Academic Affairs. In this position, Gina will partner with university service units, deans and academic unit program leadership to direct programs through the strategic stages of program proposal, development and approval. Gina’s role also includes oversight of the Center for Online and Distance Learning, which previously was housed in Jayhawk Global.
These changes were part of a months-long effort to streamline the program approval and review process and to better integrate that process with the needs of programs and students. Her role helps ensure program innovation and development meet accreditation and KBOR standards and requirements.
About Gina Wyant
Gina brings a wealth of higher education experience in guiding strategic initiatives and assessing academic quality and instructional effectiveness. In 2022, Gina was named KU’s inaugural director of assessment, where she provided management and leadership for curricular outcomes assessment and program review to support the university’s mission, strategic initiatives and resource planning.
Wyant also worked collaboratively with faculty, staff and administrators to ensure the assessment of student learning outcomes for academic programs and co-curricular activities. She has worked with units across campus to build and implement assessment policies, practices and systems and link assessment activities with strategic planning.
Before joining KU, Wyant held several senior leadership roles at MacMurray College, including interim director of Online Education, associate provost for Academic Affairs & Compliance, and interim provost and vice president for Academic Affairs & Student Life. Before her tenure at MacMurray, she served at Ottawa University in multiple administrative roles, including director of Adjunct & Curriculum Administration and assistant dean for Academic Administration.
Insight and Steady Leadership
With nearly two decades of experience strengthening academic quality and leading strategic initiatives, Gina brings exceptional insight and steady leadership. I am consistently impressed by her thoughtful approach to institutional improvement, with particular care given to student and faculty interests, as well as program health and success. KU will benefit greatly from her expertise as assistant vice provost for program life cycle.
Please join me in congratulating Gina on her new role.
Sincerely,
Ric
