Annual Faculty & Staff Training Now Open
Dear Colleague,
The required IT cybersecurity module is now available in MyTalent. Please complete it by March 25.
As KU faculty and staff members we have a responsibility to help support a safer and more secure campus environment. The “Cybersecurity at KU” module will reinforce cyber vigilance best practices and how to protect our community from disruptions to our data and shared systems.
You can find the module in the “My Learning Assignments” tile under “Learning” on the MyTalent landing page. Detailed instructions at the end of this message will guide you in accessing the learning module and FAQs are posted online to provide additional support.
Our collective effort toward a safer campus community is strengthened by the awareness, knowledge and reinforcement that comes through annual training.
Thank you in advance for taking time to complete the learning module.
Respectfully,
Ed and Natalie

Completing the Annual Training
The learning module is available by selecting the direct links below, or by logging in to the MyTalent system and locating the module in the “My Learning Assignments” tile under “Learning” on the landing page.
When launching the IT security module, select your preferred language, review information to report email abuse and click the Home icon in the upper righthand corner of the pop-out screen to begin the module.
When you have completed the module be sure to follow the exit instructions to ensure completion is recorded. Do not prematurely close your browser window until instructions are completed.
IT Security Awareness (required)
As faculty and staff, we have access to confidential personal, academic, research and proprietary data. That access comes with a responsibility to protect the information and help safeguard our campus systems. The “Cybersecurity at KU – 2025” module provides simple steps you can take to protect yourself, your colleagues, your students and the University of Kansas.
- The module takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.
- You must go through the entire module. Simply logging in or partially completing the module will not register as “complete.”
- You must click “Agree” on the final screen before closing the training.
- If you experience technical issues, please contact Human Resource Management at hrdept@ku.edu.
New Learning Experience Layout
You have the option to view the training in the "New Learning Experience" format before My Learning officially transitions to the new layout in May.
Click the toggle button in the upper righthand corner of the Learning landing page to view the changes.
The Learning home page will be simplified in this new experience and learning will be divided into three general sections:
Required Learning
This section shows assigned required training prioritized by due date. Curricula compliance can be viewed at the top with a status bubble but no longer shows the number of curricula that are open versus completed.
Important Learning
This section displays learning assignments assigned as non-required items by managers and the learning team (administrators). They are prioritized by due dates.
Invest in Myself
This section shows any learning that you’ve selected for yourself. Previously self-assigned learning will also appear here.
Click on the drop-down menu in the upper righthand corner to see additional options and features.
To search for training, use the search bar at the top of the screen to find a topic or class of your choice. For additional questions, please contact Human Resource Management at hrdept@ku.edu.
