Dear Students, Staff and Faculty

This message is to inform you that we are launching a national search for the University Ombuds position.

The Ombuds Office plays an important part in the culture of KU Lawrence and Edwards by providing a unique space that is confidential and impartial, independent and informal. In this way the Ombuds Office supports individuals who are facing issues or conflicts and helps them identify options and resources to address those workplace and school-related challenges.

KU’s team of ombuds in the Ombuds Office provides excellent service to students, staff and faculty on our campus. We are launching a national search for the position of University Ombuds in order to have an open and transparent process and to attract a national pool of candidates. A national search ensures an exceptionally strong candidate pool and gives the KU community input into the selection of the next University Ombuds.

Jeff Chasen, Assistant Vice Provost for Employee Growth, Development, Accessibility and Inclusion, will chair the search. You can learn more about the position on our search webpage on the Provost Office website.

I look forward to seeing that we attract the best candidates and encourage you to be an active participant in the search process.

Respectfully,

Barb,

Barbara A. Bichelmeyer

Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor
