Reminder: Submit Winter Recess Plans

Colleagues,

As Chancellor Girod announced Oct. 19, most Lawrence and Edwards Campus offices are closed Dec. 26 through Jan. 1. In addition, to protect facilities and equipment following the reduced campus presence after students leave for winter break, campus buildings will be locked and accessible through key card, beginning Sunday, Dec. 26 through Sunday, Jan. 2.

We understand some offices provide essential services and must have project continuity during this time. We are asking all unit directors to report their unit’s plans for this period, even if simply to confirm the unit will closed. If your respective offices have not yet filed plans using the Winter Recess website, please ensure that an authorized representative does so as soon as possible.

The break often is a time of reduced services or coordinated office closures. It is important that every unit across campus submits Winter Recess plans so a variety of service providers, such as mail and package delivery or KU Public Safety Office, can plan accordingly and take appropriate action as needed.

Purchasing and Deliveries

During winter break, the ability for order deliveries on campus will be limited. If personnel will not be available to receive deliveries, please do not allow non-essential purchases.

More detailed information about campus unit responsibilities as well as a variety of other HR and campus service information can be found on the Winter Recess website.

Respectfully,

Mike Rounds

Vice Provost for Operations
