New Faculty & Staff "Diversity and Inclusion" Online Development Module Launches Today
Dear colleague,
The University of Kansas has launched new diversity education module for faculty and staff. The “Diversity and Inclusion” online module directly responds to continued community calls for additional education regarding diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging for all members of the KU community.
Why This Development Experience is Important
The work of fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is neither quick nor easy, and it begins with increasing self-awareness and building intercultural competency. This module does just that, helping us establish a shared language and understanding of these concepts and of the responsibility we all share, as Jayhawks, to name and confront bias and discrimination as we act in service of our vision to be an exceptional learning community that lifts each other and advances society.
How to Complete the Module
All current faculty and staff with access to the MyTalent system are encouraged to complete this professional development module by Jan. 10. The module has been assigned to you in the system. After you log in, look for the course titled, “Diversity and Inclusion” under the “Learning” tile or under your “Take Courses” tile.
We estimate it will take approximately one hour to complete this experience. We appreciate your participation and your feedback. We will be working with unit leaders across the university to offer encouragement and follow up as we strive to increase DEIB awareness, understanding, and competence across our campuses.
If you have any questions about the training or feedback to share following completion of the module, please contact the Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at diversity@ku.edu. If you have questions about MyTalent or accessing the “Diversity and Inclusion” development module, contact Human Resource Management at hrdept@ku.edu or 785-864-4965.
Respectfully,
D. A. Graham
Interim Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
