Jayhawks Rising October Update
Dear Colleagues,
Three priorities, 13 objectives, and hundreds of possibilities — all in support of one vision: To be an exceptional learning community that lifts each other and advances society.
Our Jayhawks Rising Strategic Plan focuses on Student Success, Healthy & Vibrant Communities, and Research & Discovery. Earlier this year we analyzed your feedback and suggestions to set 13 objectives that address our most pressing issues and are our greatest opportunities to advance the Lawrence and Edwards campuses.
At the end of the spring 2021 semester, we selected individuals to co-lead efforts and monitor results for the objectives. Our Jayhawks Rising objective leaders each have direct responsibilities for or lead areas directly affected by the objective they have been asked to lead. In mid-September, these leaders met to identify promising ideas and strategies for each objective, and will soon begin contacting stakeholders across campus and creating teams to engage in strategy implementation with high-level action steps, goals and metrics.
Our success as an AAU research-intensive institution requires strategic alignment across the organization, with each of us being focused on our role, collaborative in our interactions with each other, and purposeful in the activities we engage in to achieve our goals. This plan guides all of us in our collective efforts, and we want each individual to feel engaged and informed, and to know their contributions will help ensure the University of Kansas is nimble, enduring and exceptional in all that we do.
Corinne Bannon, director of institutional effectiveness with Analytics, Institutional Research and Effectiveness, has been meeting with campus units to provide an overview of the Jayhawks Rising Strategic Plan. There are many places we haven’t been yet and we want this important message to reach all corners of our campuses. If you’d like to have a glimpse into how the plan comes together, please have your unit leader reach out and schedule a presentation.
Thank you for all you do for KU.
Respectfully,
Barb
