Colleagues,

The University of Kansas is discontinuing restrictions on university-related travel implemented during the pandemic. This means that prior approval by the Provost Office and submission of research fieldwork/travel planning forms to the Office of Research are no longer needed for KU-related travel. Please continue to keep health and safety in mind when making plans, and adhere to all applicable state and federal travel guidelines. If traveling internationally, please review the University-sponsored Travel to High Risk Locations policy.

When planning KU-related travel, please submit a Concur Travel Request form or the online SSC Travel Request form before making travel arrangements. To ensure the university can more quickly provide pre-trip travel advisory assistance, as well as help in case of a travel emergency, please be sure to have an approved Concur Travel Request at least 14 days before domestic travel and 30 days before international travel. If the need for travel arises within that period, submit your travel request as soon as travel is known.

If approved travel results in the traveler unexpectedly being quarantined at the travel destination location, the approving department is responsible for any additional lodging and travel expenses above and beyond the original cost estimate. Please note additional lodging and travel expenses due to being quarantined are not an allowed expense on sponsored project funds and alternative funds will need to be used.

We encourage KU employees to book KU-related travel through the Concur Travel online system or Corporate Travel Planners (ku@ctp-travel.com| 877-630-1232).  Visit the Booking KU Business Travel website for additional information and help with planning and booking KU-related travel.

Respectfully,

Jason and Simon
