Listening Session Set for Thursday Evening
Sent on behalf of D. A. Graham, Interim Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging; Charles A. S. Bankart, Associate Vice Provost for International Affairs; and Derek Kwan, President of the Asian and Asian-American Faculty and Staff Council.
Dear KU Community,
On March 25, members of the Asian and Asian-American community attended a virtual listening and support conversation following the senseless violence in Atlanta, which resulted in the deaths of eight people including six Asian women.
At that meeting, members of the Asian and Asian-American community shared their experience with microaggressions, discrimination and racism on KU’s campus.
We heard those concerns and want to continue the conversation.
The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging; International Affairs, and the Asian and Asian-American Faculty and Staff Council will hold a follow-up meeting at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 8.
The meeting will be an opportunity to discuss the actions we have taken since March 25 and the larger DEIB framework. It will also be another chance to continue to listen. Provost Barbara Bichelmeyer plans to attend this meeting.
