Realizing Financial Stability
Dear staff and faculty,
Please join me for a video series that lays out several of the challenges we face, and provides important context for our path forward. All of us on the Lawrence and Edwards Campus will have to work quickly and creatively in the days and months ahead to advance our vision, adopt measures that will strengthen KU, and address our projected revenue shortfall for Fiscal Year 2022 and beyond.
We’re calling this video series “Essential Information” because each presentation will relate aspects of the university that are foundational to our current state, and provide insights we will need as we work together to create the future for our university, and to do so while celebrating our strengths, finding opportunities to improve, and assuring our fiscal sustainability. This information gives us a common understanding that will allow us to work with purpose and in partnership toward our vision and renewed strength.
Today’s video discusses important performance measures and financial conditions at KU in relation to more than 20 peer institutions.
We have many gears in motion. We must work to increase enrollment, improve diversity, equity and inclusion; support stronger student performance; strengthen tenure; set our budgets for FY 22; and address our projected revenue shortfall. It will take all of us doing our part, staying informed and engaged and using our collective talents to develop solutions and action steps that will guide us toward greater fiscal stability and improved outcomes.
Your questions and comments are always welcome. Send an email to provost@ku.edu, contact your Dean, Vice Provost or your Governance leader, or use this anonymous, open-ended form.
In the days to come, I’ll share information about committees and task forces that will be part of our campus efforts. Thank you to all who have shown a willingness to be contributing partners in our efforts to build a stronger University of Kansas.
Respectfully,
Barb
