Biography

Cory T. Forbes is an associate dean for research and doctoral studies, Fenton Wayne Robnett Endowed Professor of Science Education and director of the STEM Education Research Collaboratorium and Resource Center in the College of Education at the University of Texas at Arlington. 

As associate dean, Forbes leads the College’s research enterprise and doctoral programs while overseeing its administrative shared services unit, which includes research development, fiscal stewardship, personnel processes and operational systems in the College. He led the establishment of a new Office of Research to support grant proposal development, grant administration and faculty mentoring across career stages.

As the previous chair of UT Arlington’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Forbes oversaw faculty affairs, graduate and undergraduate academic programs, personnel decisions, fiscal management and strategic planning. 

A nationally recognized scholar in STEM education, Forbes has secured more than $10.5 million in external funding. He has authored or co-authored 100 peer-reviewed publications and authored more than 200 presentations at national and international meetings. His research focuses on teaching and learning in K–12 and undergraduate STEM contexts, including curriculum development, assessment design, professional development and classroom-based research conducted in partnership with educators and disciplinary faculty.

Forbes is a Fulbright Faculty Scholar and recipient of the National Association of Geoscience Teachers’ Geoscience Education Research Transformation Award, the National Association for Research in Science Teaching’s Research in Early Career Research Award, and the UT System Science and Technology Acquisition and Retention Award.
