KU Lawrence Faculty

Dear Colleague,

Please join me in congratulating Interim Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs Lou Mulligan, who has been selected to serve as Dean of the Law School at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. I appreciate the great service Lou has provided KU during his time in the Office of Faculty Affairs, as well as his years of dedicated teaching and leadership in the KU School of Law.

With the timing of this transition, we have the opportunity to focus more clearly on leadership and service in the Office of Faculty Affairs.

Knowing that we would soon need to select a new Vice Provost for the office, I have assembled a search committee, which will be chaired by Dean of the School of Journalism and Mass Communications Ann Brill and Faculty Senate President and Professor Nate Brunsell. This will be an internal search and will provide many opportunities for input from our KU community. Information about the search, including a position description and the members of the search committee, is available online.

If you would like to be considered for the position, please submit an application for consideration by the search committee. Applicants must be in good standing as a tenured faculty member at the rank of full professor. Materials should be submitted through employment.ku.edu by April 23. The expected start date is negotiable, and preferably no later than July 1.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping our faculty and academic staff fulfill their potential professionally with an eye toward personal impact. If you know of someone who would be a strong candidate, please reach out and encourage them to apply.

We have made many changes to strengthen our support for faculty at KU, and we are continuing to make improvements to the faculty experience. I look forward to working with our next leader in this area to continue this commitment.

I am truly appreciative of Interim Vice Provost Mulligan’s dedication to this university and his colleagues. He demonstrated a genuine desire to facilitate faculty success and growth. Please join me in thanking Lou for his contributions to our university.

Thank you for all you do for KU.

Respectfully,

Barb
