Students, staff, and faculty:

Please join me for an introduction to the new proposed budget model for the KU Lawrence campus from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, in The Commons of Spooner Hall.

Since April 2018, our leadership team, in close collaboration with our community, has been working to redesign KU’s budget model for revenue allocation. In previous campus presentations, I’ve incorporated some of the preliminary work that has gone into creating a new model that will help ensure more responsible spending that is aligned with our key university priorities.

This presentation will provide another is a series of opportunities to learn more about the current status of the new budget model, how it will help guide our activities and initiatives, and our current plan and timeline for implementation.

In our continuing efforts to involve as much of the KU community as possible, this event will be streamed using the Zoom webinar function, which enables captioning services. We will be able to take real-time questions from those watching the livestream. The event recording will also be available for viewing a day or so later. After the event, I’ll also be able to respond to questions through email (provost@ku.edu), or in person — one-on-one or small groups — at one of my budget office hours or another time that works.

All members of the KU community can download and install the Zoom app to a computer or mobile device. KU Information Technology provides complete instructions on how to download and sign on to Zoom. When the presentation starts on May 1, click this link to join the webinar. The link is also available on the Budget Model webpage on the Provost Office website.

As noted above, I continue to offer office hours in 250 Strong Hall to individuals and small groups to discuss the new budget model. I’ve expanded the range of dates and times available and now offer times from midday through early evening and on various days of the week between now and May 16. To arrange a time (individuals or small groups) please contact Melissa Smith melissasmith@ku.edu, 785-864-4905, and we will find a time that works for you and/or your group. Additionally, I will reach out to individuals who attended past small group meetings to invite them back to offer additional feedback on the newest developments in the model.

I welcome your feedback, questions and concerns at any time. You can submit them by email to provost@ku.edu, or by using our online anonymous feedback form.
