Call for Nominations - Vice Provost for Faculty Development
The Office of the Provost invites internal nominations and applications for the position of Vice Provost for Faculty Development.
About the Position
The VP for Faculty Development reports to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor and is responsible for supporting tenure-track, tenured, non-tenure track faculty, and academic staff through their career trajectory at KU. The VP for Faculty Development’s responsibilities also include:
- Provide guidance and oversight for faculty recruitment to ensure KU hires an outstanding and diverse faculty;
- Develop, execute, and evaluate programs to foster the success, professional growth, and retention of faculty at all levels from new tenure-track faculty, to mid-career and senior faculty, as well as programs for academic staff members and non-tenure track faculty;
- Provide development opportunities for faculty in administrative roles through national connections and networking to promote sharing of new ideas and best practices;
- Monitor and recommend changes to faculty personnel and evaluation policies in collaboration with deans, vice provosts, and University governance as appropriate.
The directors of the Center for Teaching Excellence, the Lied Center for the Performing Arts, and the Spencer Museum of Art all report to the Vice Provost for Faculty Development.
Required qualifications include appointment as a tenured KU faculty member at the rank of full professor; demonstrated administrative or governance experience at the departmental, school/college, and/or university level; and a demonstrated strong teaching and research record and consistent scholarly productivity as defined in the discipline.
