Colleagues,

I want to share with you that Mahesh Daas, dean of the School of Architecture and Design, today was named the next president of Boston Architectural College. He will begin his new responsibilities in July.

Dean Daas has worked tirelessly over the past four years leading Arc/D at KU. During his time, he built a bold vision for the School and did so through curricular innovations, targeted research development efforts, and enhanced relationships with external constituencies. This vision was instrumental in several key advancements including the development and implementation of the new interior architecture and design program and several interdisciplinary research centers, as well as a revitalization of the school’s external advisory board.

Although this leadership transition poses important challenges, I am confident that recent collaborative efforts in the school involving the dean and the faculty and staff have brought the school together and engaged its collaborative spirit. This spirit is part of what makes Arc/D an indispensable part of the university, and the Office of the Provost is a committed partner in facilitating a smooth leadership transition for the school. Towards that end, I will use the coming days to consult with several constituencies inside and outside of the school, and I expect to be in touch later next week with a leadership transition plan.

Carl
