Students, staff and faculty:

Please join me for the next Campus Budget Conversation to review and discuss actions being taken to address the Lawrence campus budget situation.

3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, in 120 Budig Hall

As in previous budget meetings, this event will be livestreamed and recorded for those who cannot attend in person.

During this gathering, I will review the latest information about budget reductions across campus, including the impact of those reductions.

I also will use this time to share current progress in the development of our new budget model for the KU Lawrence campus. Since last spring, leaders across campus have been working to create a new budget model that better aligns our spending with our priorities as a university and that provides greater clarity in how are budgets are allocated.

The model is being developed in collaboration with deans, vice provosts, and directors of key academic service units, and over the past month I have begun to share it broadly with faculty, staff, and student governance leaders and advisory groups of faculty nominated by their deans. I’ve presented to larger groups such as faculty and staff from the School of Journalism and will present to the leadership team and chairs and directors in the College on November 14. In addition, I continue to hold weekly office hours for individuals to ask questions and provide feedback.

There will be ample time for questions during the meeting. All members of the KU community, especially those individuals who may not be able to attend the conversation in person, can submit questions at any time either by email provost@ku.edu or anonymously through the online form.
