Call for Nominations - Vice Provost for Diversity and Equity
The Office of the Provost invites internal nominations and applications for the position of Vice Provost for Diversity and Equity.
About the Position
The VP for Diversity and Equity reports to the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor and provides both the strategic and day-to-day institutional leadership on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The VP for Diversity and Equity also has responsibility to:
- Develop and evaluate metrics to increase diversity, foster equity, and achieve inclusion across student, staff, and faculty ranks;
- Develop and maintain active partnerships with the external community and appropriate alumni groups in support of diversity and equity at KU;
- Work closely and collaboratively with administrators, academic units, and appropriate offices to recruit and retain a more diverse faculty, staff, and student body, especially those from historically under-represented groups.
The directors of the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Emily Taylor Center for Women & Gender Equity, and the Multicultural Scholars Program all report to the Vice Provost for Diversity and Equity.
Required qualifications include appointment as a tenured KU faculty member; demonstrated commitment to increasing diversity, inclusion, and/or educational equity in higher education; and a minimum of three years of administrative experience or combined administrative and governance experience at the departmental, school/college, and/or university level.
