KU announces Staff Fellows for 2017-2018

The Staff Fellows Program strives to make KU a stronger institution by providing unclassified professional and university support staff members with opportunities to take part in a structured professional development program. The program includes skill and leadership development and the opportunity to gain broader knowledge of the university. It also provides each staff fellow with a mentor from KU’s senior leadership to broaden the experience, knowledge and resources available to each of the fellows.

During the course of the yearlong program, the fellows work together on a complex assignment with potential to better the institution. This year staff fellows will shape an employee value proposition model that promotes positive employee engagement at KU. Staff fellows will also recommend how to implement this model within the organization.

“Among the truly great strengths of KU are the skills and ideas that our people bring to the institution every day,” Bendapudi said. “This project and the talented people we are bringing together represent an exciting opportunity for KU. We will accomplish something that elevates our institution not just in the near future, but for the long run.”

In the first half of the program year, Staff Fellows will conduct research and analyze employee value proposition philosophies and models. Using this research, they will design a compelling employee value proposition that aligns with both higher education and KU. A midyear review will assess the viability and provide feedback to guide the second half of the program year, which will produce a recommendation on how to implement the employee value proposition model at KU to foster a culture that promotes positive employee engagement.

Staff from the Lawrence and Edwards campuses and the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in Hutchinson applied to the program, now in its 10th year. Twelve new fellows were selected.
